McKAY’S “GAIETIES”

New Programme Today

Mr. -Stanley McKay’s revue, “Let’s Go Hunting,” which concluded at the New Opera House last night, won the acclaim of the large audience. This was a particularly colourful revue, a typical English hunting scene, with the scarlet-coated huntsmen gathered round the village inn preparatory to the chase, forms the finale to the first half of the programme.

George Hurd, adroit juggler, headed the bill, and he was worthy of his .place. This amazing man who has perfectly coordinated mind, sight and action, took pride in going through his amazing performances without making a slip. Stella Lamond made a welcome re-appearance, singing in her own inimitable style, “I Thought I’d Die” and “Man’s Seven Ages.” One of the features of the programme was the introduction of- the London rage, “The Lambeth Walk,” a Cockney strut to a lively tune, which was sung by Gerry Keogh, with the assistance of the Gaiety Girls. Scotty and Dolly, Australia’s premier dancing duo; Snowy Towers,, mimic of screen stars; Nellie Kolle, famous male impersonator; the San Renos Bros., matchless hand balancers ; Assam, Pekoe, Souchon and Congo, crazy acrobatic clowns; Jerry Keogh, acrobatic dancer; Dolly Donoghue, solo dancer; and Max Reddy, light comedian, were others who gave variety items of outstanding merit. A complete change of programme will be -presented for the first time at the matinee which will begin at 2.15. “The Laughter Express,” is the name of this programme and it will include the song scenas, “In Old Bagdad” and “The Old Mill.” As a special attraction several of Miss Lillian O’Leary’s pupils, including the “Laurel and Hardy” impersonators, will perform during the afternoon. Numerous presents will.be given away.

Seats should be reserved after noon at the theatre; day-sale tickets will be procurable from th.e theatre sweets shop.
