AUSTRALIAN CABINET

Attorney-Generalship For Mr. Hughes CANBERRA, March 17. The Federal Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, stated today that he did not propose to replace Mr. J. N. Lawson, who has resigned his post as Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury and Industry, following the recasting of the National Insurance legislation. Mr. W. M. Hughes, Minister of External Affairs, would be sworn in as Federal Attorney-General on Monday to replace Mr. R. G. Menzies, but the appointment would be only temporary.

Mr. Menzies resigned because of his objection to the manner in which the Government dealt with the National Insurance issue.
