Current prices are quoted as under:— Lambs, 2's, 7d. to 7 3-Bd.; B’s, 7d. to 7 l-Bd.; 4's, 6 7-Bd.; seconds, 7d. to 7-Jd.; wethers, I’s, 7’s, 4 3-Bd. to 5d.; 3's, 9’s, s’s, 3 l-Bd. to 4Jd.; ewes, I’s, 7’s, 2fd. to 3 l-Bd. ;_3's, 9’s, s’s, 2d. to 23d.; porkers, 6 5-Bd. to 7 l-Bd.; baconers, 63d. to 63d. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cabled advice from their London agents dated March 16:—Compared with last week’s quotations, Down and crossbred lamb, 361 b. to 421 b., 1-Sd. a lb. lower; second quality lambs, l-Bd. a lb. lower; wethers, 561 b. to 641 b., 1-Sd. a lb. lower; ewes, under 481 b., l-Bd. a lb. higher; others unchanged. There are no signs of improvement in prices at present.

Heury S. Fitter aud Sons, Ltd., London, cable under date March 16 as follows: —Lambs: There is a fair demand; the market is well supplied. Wethers: The market is weaker for heavyweights; lightweights remain steady. Ewes: There is very little inquiry for ewe muttou. Chilled beef: Smaller supplies have caused prices to harden. Pork: The market is quiet and unchanged. The markets generally are dull and featureless.

SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES

Wellington Sale Prices

There was keen competition at the fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides and tallow held yesterday by the combined Wellington brokers. Prices for sheepskins were fully firm and occasionally ]d. a lb. higher than last sale’s quotations. All grades of hides were in demand and generally improved prices were offering. Heavy ox advanced by id. to 2d. a lb., and light ox and cow by l-Bd. a lb. Kip and yearling were not in such demand, and declined by about id. a lb. Calfskins were also lower by id. a lb. There was no demand for tallow.

The following is the range of prices:— Dry sheepskins: Halfbred, 7-}d. to 8 Jd.; fine crossbred, 6Jd. to Bd.; medium crossbred, 6|d. to Bd.; coarse crossbred, sid. to Bd.; half wools, 41<1. to 71d.; quarter wools, 4d. to 64d.; pelts. to 42d.
