BOY PLUCKILY RESCUES CHILD
By Telegraph—Press Association. HAMILTON, March 16. A plucky rescue was effected in the Waikato River last evening when lan Paterson, aged 14, the. Hamilton High School junior swimming champion, dived to the rescue of a child of GJ years, Roy Hunt, who was seen clinging to a capsized canoe. The canoe was seen revolving near midstream, the child being periodically submerged. He was rapidly becoming exhausted and only the prompt action of Paterson averted a fatality.
On reaching the canoe Paterson had to swim more than 400 yards to shore, where the child was given first aid.
