SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Accountant To Study In London CHRISTCHURCH MAN’S SUCCESS The third biennial award of a travelling scholarship was made in Wellington yesterday by the New Zealand Institute of Accountants. The recipient was Mr. N. 11. Chapman, 8.C0m., Christchurch, who is 2-1 years of age. lie will probably leave the Dominion in about three months, and the institute, in accordance with its practice, will endeavour to secure for him a pillion willi a London firm. Tlie scholarship is of the value of £l7O and is tenable for two years. After committees in the four main centres had dealt with applications for the scholarship, three finalists, each, it is .stated, witli high qualifications, were interviewed in Wellington yesterday. They were Mr. Chapman, Mr. A. P. Fogerty, 8.C0m., Auckland, and Mr. J. S. Campbell, M.Com., Wellington. It is obligatory upon holders of the scholarship to return to New Zealand and spend at least three years here after their return, engaging in lecturing work if possible. The present holder, Mr. R. A. Douglas, Auckland, was to have returned to New Zealand at the end of last year, but has obtained an extension of time to allow him to sit a British examination.
