Because no definite information could be given about the social security legislation, tlie North Island Grand Lodge conference of the United Ancient Order of Druids today set up a special emergency committee with, full power to act to meet any new situation and to co-operate with the Government in arrangements for operating the benefits of the social security scheme as far as they relate to the sphere covered by friendly societies. The report of the executive stated that it was impossible to visualize what effect the social security scheme would have on friendly societies till the complete regulations had been issued
