THREE MONTHS’ JAIL
Unlawful Conversion Of Motor-Truck “Accused is already serving six months’ imprisonment for thefts from his employers in Timaru,” said Detec-tive-Sergeant P. Doyle, in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday, when Charles Edward Faluail, labourer, pleaded guilty to the unlawful conversion of a motor-truck, the property of Thompson Bros., in Wakaia, Southland, on December 17, 1938. Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., sentenced Falnall to three months’ jail with bard labour, the term to start at. 'the expiration of the sentence now being served.
Detective-Sergeant Doyle told the Court that accused was employed by Thompson Brothers on their farm in ■the Southland district, and on December 17 was lent the truck tor a journey to Wakaia, the condition being that he returned to the farm that night. Accused failed to return and a search of the district did not reveal any trace of accused or the truck. Accused went to Gore, the detectivesergeant- added, and left there on the morning of December 18 without paying for bis night’s lodging. He subsequently went Io Dunedin aud paid lor the truck to be left in a parking area, after which be wrote to his former employers, told them he had left to be married, and gave a l-’ort Chalmers.uddress. The story about the marriage was false, and the address fictitious. The truck was recovered by the owners.
