YACHTING CONTROL
Meeting Of Association A meeting of the AVellington Provincial Yacht ami Motor-Boat Association was held last night. On the suggestion of the Parcmata Boating Club, it was decided that, , if enough support were forthcoming, a New Zealand 14ft. square bilge championship should be held at the centennial regatta. The question of whether the event should be an annual one is to be discussed later. Iu reference to the Idle Along contest at Nelsou in January, Mr. R. Rolle said that Marlborough would support Tauranga’s claim to the Idle Along championship. Marlborough considered that there was no bias against Wellington, though there was friction. The rule was that the boats must be sailing when the flags were raised, and the Wellington boat was not sailing.
Referring to the disqualification of the Wellington boat because of 'a foul, Mr. Rolle said that two boats claimed that Wellington were in the wrong, and the majority opinion was generally accepted. It was decided that n warning should be sent to all associations that Idle Along class boats not, conforming to specifications would not be accepted at any future New Zealand contests. Mr. 11. Stutter, racing secretary, tendered his resignation, complaining that the association did not enforce its own rules, though he had drawn attention to breaches, particularly lack of notification of change of ownership and names of boats and the carrying of wrong numbers.
The Idle .Along challenge shield contest is to bi? held on Sunday, beginning at 2.30 p.m., from Point Jerninghnin. It is expected that 40 boats will compete.
