Preparations Well Ahead
A meeting of the Wellington Red Cross garden fete committee was held recently, Mr. F. S. Pope occupying the chair. ’.l’he fete is to take place on Saturday, April 1, at the Red Cross Home, SO Hobson Street, beginning at 2.30 p.m. Lady Myers has consented to perform the opening ceremony. The Caledonian Society has agreed to provide the pipe band and national dances. -Members of the Junior Red Cross at the Wellington Girls’ College will give a dancing display. Conveners of sweets, Howers, produce, cakes, drinks and ices stalls reported that their preparations were well in hand. Afternoon tea will be served, this responsibility being in the hands of., the Red Cross Voluntary Aid Detachment. Ju the sideshows a number of novelty games will be provided and will be carried out by the Men’s Voluntary Aid Detachment. A first aid tent will be erected aud demonstrations in first aid given by members of the society.
The baby show is attracting a great deal of attention. This will be in charge of Sister Small. Sisters Hancock and Dawes will supervise the judging. An entrance fee of one shilling will be charged and prizes for the best baby girl, best baby boy and best twins under 12 months will be given. Members of the Red Cross Younger Set tiad signified their intention of giving full cooperation as had also the 14 sub-cen-tres operating under the Wellington Centre.
