OPENING OF NEW HALL
Returned Soldiers' Dance In Johnsonville More than 400 were present at a dance arranged by the Johnsonville branch of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association, and held in Symonds Hall, Johnsonville recently. The occasion marked the opening of the new hall. The decorations of red, while, and blue were effectively arranged by Mr. and Mrs. H. McLennan. The members of the committee responsible for the entertainment were: Mesdames Washington, McLennan, Mclndoe, Myers, Charlton, Messrs. McLennan, Chalmers. Riddell, A. Richardson. Harrison, and L. Myers. Ackroyd's Bohemians supplied the dance music, old and modern. During the evening a song ami dance by Miss Beryl Richardson was enthusiastically received, as was also a football ballet by Miss Cathcart’s pupils. Mr. Fred Jacobs, speaking on behalf of Hie Johnsonville R.S.A., congratulated Mr. Symonds on his enterprise in building such a line modern hall, which filled a long-felt want in the district. Mr. Symonds replied. A bright note was .struck by the presence of about 30 members of the Wellington Regiment in their new dress uniform. Among those present were; Mesdames G. Lawrence, A. Richardson, W. Richardson. Liddle, Hooper, N. Jepson E. Jepson, Mason. Kench, Bruce. Pettit, Hodge. Glass-Johnson. Neal. Bryant, Wilson, Stone. Gardiner, Leadley. Hopping, Larsen. Fisher, Watt. Hogg, Sinclair, Angell. Satlierley, Davis, Green, Crowdis, Cameron, Wood. Giirmonsway, Bowler. Rose. Simeon, Boon.
