What he termed a disturbing atmosphere on some of the works was commented on by the superintendent and engineer of the Auckland Harbour Board, Mr. D. Holderness, at the official opening of the new Hobson Wharf on Tuesday. There was a tendency, he said for a small section of the workmen to infiltrate their ideas throughout the whole crowd that work was not the pleasure and comfort the average man who did a good day’s work found it to be. However, on the. whole the board’s men were less imbued with the -pirit of doing as little as possible in a day’s work than tiny other section ot the community, and he took a great pride in the staff.
