WOMEN’S CRICKET

Junior Representative Match On Saturday (By Mid-on.) No women’s cricket was played last Saturday, most players being keen to see Sir Julien Cahn’s team play New Zealand.. Next Saturday a junior representative match will be played, Wellington versus Palmerston North, at the Prince of Wales Park. Last year the Wellington girls managed to beat Palmerston North, and this season they have a team just as good. The Wellington Side. The Wellington team will be captained by J. Nolan (Onslow), a keen all-rounder. Other all-rounders in the side are J. Oxley, S. Baker, B. Stewart (College Old Girls), J. Dixon (Lever Bros.), D Hil , N Kellv (Onslow), and P. b airclough (Randwick). Of the remainder S. Jackson (C.0.G.) is a good barman ami 1. Marshall (Randwick) is a useful bowler. She represented Wellington -last year. Misa Creighton is the only representative from Technical Old Girls. The bowling strength is good. 1. should think most of the work will fall on Miss Baker and Miss Stewart, with the Misses Hill, Marshall and Dixon to assist Miss Baker is one of the most promising bowlers I have seen in this grade, and is of the medium-fast variety. The batting strength is good also, and I am sure even the tail will wag. All the girls arc keen fielders, and as this is an important feature it is hoped the standard will not slip on Saturday. Among those unfortunate to miss selection are J. Silk (T.0.G.), N. Hedger (C.0.G.), M. Marshall (Randwick) aud H. Craig (Lever Bros.). Another promising player who joined onlv half way through tne season is D. Sidey (C.0.G.), a left-hand me-dium-paced bowler. Practice.
