RUAHINE BAND
Return From First A Grade Contest DANNEVIRKE. March 14. The Itu.'ihine Pipe Baud was given an enthusiaistie reception on its return to Dannevirke after competing successfully in tin 1 Dominion contest hi Christchurch during the weekend. The band was con gratulated by the mayor. Mr E. Gibbard, who stated that its performance wa* meritorious in gaining sueb success in its A-grade competition. Mr. H. H. Hansen, chairman of the Dannevirke County Council, welcoming and congratulating the band, said its success demonstrated what could be attained by hard work, determination and concentration. Drum-Major A. Sturrock said the band had done its best—in fact everything that was expected of it on and off the field — and was not ashamed of its performances.
