MISS ELLA DARBY AS QUEEN CANDIDATE
Choice Of Professional And Business Men Miss Ella Darby was chosen yesterday at a representative meeting held in I'etone as business and professions' candidate in the Hutt Valley queen carnival. Mr. W. Smith was chairman of the meeting, and lie explained that the candidate would represent Lower Hutt, I’etone, Upper Hutt and Eastbourne interests. A committee was set up, representing busim-r-'s am! prolessioual men in all parts of the valley. This committee is Messrs W. Smith (chairman I. A. J. Gearing and C. Gregory (secretaries). E. F. Rothwell, E. Shearer. S. Carey. W. Giltrap. J. Kerr. Coles, Blundell, Hoddinott, Reed, Rennie, Robinson and Matthews. There are now four queens- in the field, the others being Mrs. Richard Bradley (women's organizations); Miss Natalie Whiteman (motor industry), and Miss Joan Cowie (Returned Soldiers). Miss Darby is well known in the Hutt Valley. For some years she Ims been employed in the office of the Hutt River Board, whose interests extend over the whole of the valley.
