THEFT IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS
Cash Boxes Rifled By Telegraph—Press Association. TAUMARUNUI, March 14. The Borough Council Chambers were the scene of a burglary last night. The intruder prised open a locked drawer in a secretaire in the Town Clerk’s office, revealing a bunch of 30 duplicate keys for the strong-room and safe. All the cash boxes were rifled, £lOO in cash and £l6O in cheques being stolen. No clue has been discovered as to the perpetrator.
