Committee Members Elected WELLINGTON SUBURBS Little Interest Taken In Poll The election of licensing committees throughout New Zealand took place yesterday. There arc nearly 60 licensing districts in the Dominion, but a comparatively small number of elections was required because in many cases no more than the requisite number of five persons had been nominated.

Thoturli Hie voting was conducted on a full Parliamentary franchise, little interest was shown in the election of a committee for Wellington Suburbs, the only poll necessary in the city. Wellington Suburbs was a no-licence district till the alteration of the boundaries before the last general election. There were seven nominations for the live seats. The result of the poll is as follows: — Votes Carman, Aftliiii’ Herbert 40-> Grant, Konald 3^ 3 Dowse, Percy 3,15 Hornig, William Francis 3 '1 Hollands, Edwin Frank 33 >’ (Tlie above are elected.) Butler, Peter Michael 325 Huggau, Joseph 3,1 1 Messrs. Carman and Dowse are members of the New Zealand Labour Party, as also are Messrs. Butler and Huggau, the two unsuccessful candidates. The returning officer was Mr. J. Lauric. The results are subject to a recount, but it is not expected there will be any changes. The boundaries of the Wellington Suburbs licensing district are the same as (hose of the Parliamentary electorate. RESULTS OF HUTT ELECTION The Hutt Licensing Committee election, for which there were six candidates for live seals, resulted as follows August, J. E 297 Miller, C. A 235 Bowden, A. G 230 Holder, 11. V 182 Seddon, C 176 (The above were elected.) Gerrie, A, G 113 Little interest was taken in the election, only 355 of 15,287 electors voting. At one of the four Hutt booths, Birch Street hall, only 15 voted in the 10 hours the bootli was open.
