Stratford, president and honorary registrar respectively, of the Federation of New Zealand Justices Associations. The Hon. Mr. Justice Nortlieroft left Wellington last night for the South Is-' land by the steamer express. Mr. H. A. Le Pine, Lower Hutt, was a passenger for the South Island by the steamer express last night. Mr. R. H. Barron, Dunedin, has been appointed Chief Dental Officer for the Cook Islands. Mr. M. H. Wynyafd was a passenger by air from Wellington to Nelson yesterday. Mr. C. A. Deuxberry, Auckland, arrived at Wellington yesterday from the north by the Limited express. Mr. H. Gatty, representative of PanAmerican Airways in New Zealand, is visiting Wellington. Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, Director of School Hygiene, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday morning. Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., chairman of the Railways Appeal Board, arrived at Wellington from Auckland yesterday by the Limited express. Mr. AV. T. Ikin, general manager for New Zealand of the A.M.P. Society, 'returned to Wellington by the Limited express yesterday morning. Mr. N. S. Falla, chairman aud man-aging-director of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., travelled to Nelson by air yesterday from Wellington. Mr. K. B. Ashe, manager for New Zealand of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society, Limited, has returned to Wellington from a tour of the society's South Island branches. Mr. and Mrs. H, Linley Richardson, Victoria Avenue, Palmerston North, returned by the Strathallan, which art’ivecj at Wellington yesterday, after a year’s absence abroad. They will leave Wellington for Palmerston North today, Mr. Ant.ul Dorati, the conductor of the Russian Ballet Orchestra, passed through Wellington on Sunday. He wilt leave Auckland today for Sydney, where he Is to conduct concerts for the Australian Broadcasting Commission, at which Madame Lotte Lehmann, the distinguished German singer, is to appear. Madame Lehmann was in Australia last year and such was her success Unit she has been re-engaged for another season. M. Dorati will rejoin the Covent Garden Russian Ballet in Melbourne and later will be associated with the ballet in Covent Garden. London, in June next. Mr. J. 11. Cooper, Palmerston North, who has retired from the service of the Railways Department, was hade farewell by his colleagues in the office of the inspector of permanent way, Mr. T. Mullet. Good wishes to both Mr. and Mrs. Cooper were conveyed by Mr. Mullet mid other railway officials with whom Mr. Cooper lias been associated for 30 years in the office of the inspector of permanent way In Palmerston North, and presentations to Mill ml Mrs. Cooper were made by Mr. J. O’Grady. Mr. Cooper is tile last of the stuff of the old Welliiigton-Miiimwatu Railway Company who joined the Railways Department tylien the Government took over the line.
