Egg Market Steady
The egg market in Wellington was re ported yesterday to be steady. Supplies are fairly plentiful but the demand has increased since the recent fall in prices. Present retail prices are 2/3 a dozen for specials, 2/2 for A grade, and 2/- for B grade. Current prices of fruit, vegetables and provisions are : — Fruit and Vegetables. Fruit: Apples, cookers, cases, 3/- to "/-; Cox's. 5/- to 10/-; Jonathan, 4/6 to 6/6. Quinces, 6/- to 7/-. Pears, cooking, 4/- to 5/-. Peaches, 2/!) to 4/6. Nectarines, 3/- to 4/6. Plums, 4/- to 6/-. Tomatoes, 4/6 to 8/ . Vegetables: Lettuce, cases, 1/- to 6/-; cabbages. 2/- to 2/6; silver beet. 1/6 to 2/-; marrows. 3/6 to 4/6; cauliflowers, 6/- to 9/-; spinach, 1/6 to 4/-; beetroot, 3/- to 4/-; parsnips, 5/6 to 11/3; carrots, 9/- to 12/6; swedes. 3/6; beans, 8/- to 14/ ; cucumbers, 7/- to 10/-. pumpkins, sacks, 6/- to 10/-; peas, 8/- t» 13/-; cabbages, 4/- to 5/-; potatoes, 9/to 14/-; parsnips, a dozen bunches, 6/to 8/-; beetroot, 2/- to 4/-; rhubarb, 4/ to 6/-; carrots, 4/- to 7/-; turnips, 1/6 to 2/-.
