Celebration In New Zealand Churches In Welliugtou, as elsewhere iu New Zealand, the accession of Cardinal Pacelll as -.Pope Pius Nil was celebrated by Roman Catholic Churches yesterday. Special Masses were held in the morning, accompanied by the singing of the Te Dettui, appropriate reference being made during the sermons to past Pontificates and to the qualifications which had led to the selection of the present Pontiff. .Special devotions were also held during the evening. Throughout the day special prayers were offered for Hie guidance and enlightenment of I’ope Pius Nil. Prayers of thanksgiving were also offered that tlie Church had been blessed with a leader inspired with the same zeal as his predecessor for the establishment of better understanding between the nations, greater tolerance and lasting peace. THE CORONATION Broadcast Of Ceremony Today (British Official Wireless.) ’ (Received March 12, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, March 11. Widespread interest is being displayed in the Pope’s coronation and the Vatican broadcast of lhe live-hour ceremony will bo relayed throughout Great. Britain. The ceremony will lie heard from Daventry at 2.55, G.M.T.. on Monday, and an eye-witness account by Mr. Harman Grisewood will be relayed at 3.45 p.m., G.M.T., on tlie same day.
