Mr. G. McNamara Takes Salute

CORPS COMPLIMENTED ON GOOD WORK Members of the Wellington Signal Depot, who have been in camp at Waiouru. returned by train on Saturday evening. As a mark of respect to their colonel, Mr. G. McNamara, who is retiring from the position of DirectorGeneral of the Tost and Telegraph Department, the corps marched past him on the way from the railway station. Mr. McNamara took the salute from the steps of the General Post Office. Associated witli him were Major E. H. R. Green, assistant director of signallers; Captain G. 11. Heal, N.Z.S.C., of Army Headquarters; and Mr. J. G. Young, deputy DirectorGeneral of the Post and Telegraph Department. The company, of which Captain G. L. Agar was in charge, marched round tiie Post Office and then formed up in front of the main steps, where Mr. McNamara gave a short address. Mr. McNamara, welcoming the signallers back, said he was glad to see them looking so fit and well. Though; a large number of them were recruits this year, they had done extraordinarily good work. He understood that Major-General Duigan was very pleaded with them. Major-General Duigan had telegraphed to him from the camp saying lie was delighted with their work.

“I. hope you have had a splendid time and have benefited by your training,” added Air. McNamara. “I am sure you are looking forward to your next course, and trust you will do your utmost to induce your fellow officers who are not members of the corps to join up.”
