SALVATION ARMY

New Session Of Cadets Welcomed ENTHUSIASTIC GATHERING Thirty-five young men and women from all parts of the Dominion were welcomed to the Wellington Salvation Army Training College o u Saturday at an enthusiastic gathering presided over by Commissioner Adams in the Vivian Street Citadel. This new session of cadets is the largest to enter training for some years and will be known as the ‘‘Dauntless Evangelists” session. Twelve of them come from the Auckland Division, 16 front the ■Wellington Division and seven from the South Island. At the welcome meeting representative speakers from each division expressed the hopes and desires of his or iter fellows. Cadet Adams spoke for the Auckland Division. Cadet Stone for the Christchurch Division, Cadet Rix for the Dunedin Division and Cadet Timson for the ’Wellington Division. Commissioner Adams, in addressing the congregation, said that such an occasion should bring gladness to the hearts of all Christian people as they witnessed the offering of young lives for the spread of the Gospel. It was evidence that there was still a response to the Lord’s call “Leave all and follow Me,” and that many were willing to turn their backs on material things in order to promote the cause of the spiritual.

Brigadier .Smith. Training College Principal, said that he was happy to accept the responsibility laid upon him of training the cadets for service in the Army.

The Wellington Citadel Band headed the inarch of cadets from the Training College to the Citadel and during

the meeting played the selection “British Melodies.” On Sunday the cadets took part in a “Field Day” led by the Commissioner at the Citadel, speaking at the open air and indoor meetings.
