Two-Year-Old Girl Killed

By Teleuraiib — Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 12. Elizabeth _ Shore, the two-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. .T. Shore, Kaiapohia, received injuries which proved fatal when site fell out of a motor-car driven by her father. Mr. Shore was returning to his home with his infant son in the front seat of the car and other children in the back. About six miles from Christchurch, along Marshlands Road, a back door of the car swung open and the child fell out on to the road. A doctor was called and at first it. was thought that the child was not seriously injured, but she was later sent to ■ Christchurch Hospital, where an operation was performed. She Inter died. Summers, New Plymouth, is now in hospital with concussion received when a passing ear threw up a stone through the open window of his car. After the last event at the Auckland Motor-cycle Club’s grass track meeting at Henning’s Speedway, Mangere, on Saturday one of the competitors was found to be missing and when a search was made he was found in an injured condition crawling through long grass toward the track, The victim was John Hollingsworth, brickworker, single, aged 27, of Avondale. He received concussion, bead injuries, a possible fracture of the pelvis and possible abdominal injuries. He was taken to hospital.

Apparently no one saw the accident because of the heavy pall of dust created by the 10 motor-cycles in tbe race. When Hollingsworth failed to check hi on his return his attendant set out to search the track for him, finding him in a dazed eonditiou emerging on all fours from the undergrowth at tbe side of the track. His machine was lying nearby, hidden in the long grass. The track is a mile and a quarter round and the mishap occurred at almost the farthest point from the group of spectators and officials at the finishing line. This fact, as well as that of the riders being obscured in dust, probably accounted for the'accident going unnoticed. As a result of a collision betweeu two cars on Mount Cargill on Saturday night, Mavis Kenny and Robert Smith were admitted to hospital with fractured arms.
