Following their astounding success in “Manhattan Melodranja,” their first appearance together, and soon after in Dashiell Hammett’s hilarious detective comedy, “The Thin Man,” an energetic search was begun for another suitable film for Powell and Miss Loy. The story deals with tlm domestic life of a brilliant criminal lawyer, whose business keeps him continually from his home and family. On the eve of a second honeymoon in Europe, the- lawyer’s wife becomes deeply enmeshed in a scandalous murder ease from which the lawyer husband alone can extricate her.
