The. 4 per cent, stock, ItHu, was reported hold at £lO6, Local body debentures were quiet, the only resided ceal being in Christchurch City at per cents., 1944, at £lO4, cum conversion A slightly better inquiry for banks saw quoted prices fairly firm. New laud D mortgage shares- were, distinctly better, a sale being made on change a 29/6, and buyers were staying in at du/• New,Zealand ordinaries were firm at 50/2, sellers asking 50/6. National of Australasia, £5 paid, moved up 1/0 to £6/5/6, sellers coming in at ±6/8/-. com mercial of Australia sold at 16/6. Australasias were wanted at £ll/8/-, seller holding for £ll/13/-. . ; . Breweries were in fair demand at about late rates. Wellington Gas improved to 42/9. Standard Insurance were reported sold late on Wednesday at 72/6. Miscellaneous industrial, and tradin o issues were firm on a sustained demand. Four parcels of Colonial Sugars were reported sold at £4l. Mining shares were dull, the only reported business being m Big Rivers at 2/5 and 2/4.
