UNUSUAL STRIKE

Stewards and Cooks at Quarantine Station Sydney, January 30.. It is reported that about 150 stewards and cooks went on strike at the quarantine station, where tlie Aorangi’s passengers are detained. K Tlie strike is probably the first of its kind that has taken place in a quarantine station. The stewards and cooks, who are members of the Aorangi’s crew, demanded higher rates of pay, and when no settlement was reached by the dinner hour the passengers were forced to prepare their own meals. Shortly after dinner a settlement was reached and the men resumed work.
