COUNTRY’S NEW NAME

Persia to Become “Iran” London, January 29. The Teheran correspondent of "The 'Times” states that the Persian Government has taken a dislike to the word “Persia” “Persian,” claiming that as it is derived from Fars, which is only a province of Persia, it does not properly represent the country. 'Therefore “Iran” and "Iranian” are being substituted. Foreign embassies and legations are being notified that the change will occur on the Persian New Year Day, March 21. (Note on Page 7.)
