King of Belgians Receives Deputation PROMISE TO DO UTMOST TO ASSIST By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. (Received January 30, 10.25 p.m.) London, January 30. The “Daily Chronicle’s” Brussels correspondent says that King Leopold received at the Royal Palace a deputation of four unemployed who directed attention to the plight of the country’s 350,000 workless, pointing out that most were living on less than sixpence a day. “Sire, this cannot continue.” said the deputation’s spokesman, Julien Collinet, a metal worker. “Despite all the efforts of your Cabinets during the past five years the situation has grown worse. We ask you to give us work.” The King promised to do his utmost to help them.
