YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Warm and Sultry in Wellington
The weather was line, warm and sultry at Wellington yesterday with a light northerly breeze. At 4 p.m. the temperature was 80.0 degrees, this being the highest temperature during the day. r The weather was hot in Palmerston North with a hazy sky during Hie afternoon.
Masterton once again sweltered in excessive heat, lhe temperature at 2 p.m. being 87.6 degrees in the shade. For the major part of the day therb was a very light breeze from the north. Fine, warm weather was experienced in Wanganui, with a fair amount of haze.
Sweltering heat throughout the day was experienced at Waipukurau witli a temperature of 89 degrees at 2-p.m. There was a. slight warm shower early in the evening. The temperature at S p.m. was 78 degrees. A light southerly wind and very hot weather again prevailed in Auckland without any indications of an early change. Except for occasional slight variations, the barometer' continued steady at 29.80 in. At Christchurch the day was a perfect summer day with a moderate south-west breeze in tiie morning and a light east-north-east breeze in tiie afternoon. Tiie maximum temperature was 73.2 degrees. The barometer rose slowly Io 29.95 in. Perfect summer weather was experienced at Dunedin, the sun shining from a cloudless sky. A very light southerly breeze prevailed, and the maximum temperature was 70 degrees.
