Week-end Performances NO SURPRISE RESULTS By Bowlek. Club matches under the auspices of Ihe Wellington Women’s Cricket Association were continued on Saturday in tine but windy weather. There were no surprises in the senior section. T.0.G., College 0.G., and Y.W.C.A. each winning their matches. Outstanding batting performances were: — Senior: D. Hatcher (Y.W.C.A.), 75; Mrs. Fuller (Karori). 52 not out; L. llumm (Wesley), 56 not out; M. Parkhouse (T.0.G.), 47; L. Harris (T.0.G.), 45; J. Watson (C.0.G.), 39; J. Williams (C.0.G.). 34 not out: P. Brogan (T.0.G.), 28. Junior: Chandler (Wool worths). 33; Simmons (Woolworths). 30; McLeod (Y.W.C.A.), 41; Smith (Y.W.C.A.), 47; Bellamore ((Aitkens). 32; J. Meyer (Aitkens), 25. Outstanding bowling performances were; — Senior: M. Smith (Wesley), six for 52; A. Ell (T.0.G.). four for 5; I. Pickering (C.0.G.), four for 11; D. Simons (Swifts). four for 50; P. Brogan (T.0.G.), tivo for 1; C. Robertson (T.0.G.), one for 1. Junior: Manthan (Trinity), seven for 36; Westbrooke (Y.W.C.A.), six for 21; Bellamore (Aitkens), two for 13; Hannah (Y.W.C.A.). three for 16. A Tame Cointest. A most uninspiring game was played at Tanera Crescent between Wesley and College O.G. C.O.G. batted first, and runs came very slowly, although the bowling was weak. The batsmen could have punished the slow bowling, but apparently preferred not to. Balls about a foot from the leg stump were allowed to go untouched instead of being cracked easily for four. M. Moore, the opening bat, was unfortunate in being run out just when she looked capable of making it score. J. Watson batted very well, hitting five 4’s;,but she ultimately went out l.b.w. to Gandy. A. Lucerna put some life into the game by going for the bowling, and forcing the pace. J. Williams, the not out batewotnan. played very confidently and hit seven 4’s. For Wesley M. Smith and L. Munim were the only successful batswomen in the team. Mumnt batted very well, blocking the straight balls and punishing anything loose. M. Smith was the only bowler to really trouble the C.O.G.'s, while Pickering took four of the Wesley wickets. M. Rofe fielded particularly well in the slips, and took two catches. Technical O.G. A had a walk-over victor}’ over Swifts, who again did not field a full team, through some of their players still being away. D. Simons again did the bulk of the bowling, and dismissed four good bats. Buck. Brogan, Parkhouse, Harris, and Mack all ran into double figures. Parkhouse and Harris batting particularly well. A. Ell was unfortunate in being run out early in the game. J. Holmes was dismissed early by a good ball from D. Simons. Karori were defeated by YAVjC.A.. Dot Hatcher being responsible for 75 of the score. Mrs. Fuller, for Karori, was not out with 52, mostly gained from hard cracks to leg. A newcomer. Anderson, bowled very well, and at one stage took four wickets one after another. Mrs. Fuller was very proficient behind the wickets. Among the Juniors. Wool worths secured another victory over Trinity by 37 runs. Chandler, McNichol, and Simmons batted very well, while Hanthan and Ferguson bowled successfully. H. Clarke fielded smartly, and took three good catches. Manthan, by a good return to the bowling crease, was responsible for running out V. Taylor. a promising Woolworth bat, early in her innings. Y.W.C.A. defeated Aitkens by 14 runs. McLeod and Smith raised the score by SS runs between them, ami were hard to dismiss. Bellmnore and Meyer, for Aitkens, again batted well. Both are gom] all-rounders, and can be depended upon each match. Hannah, of Y.W.C.A.. made a good score, and took three wickets for 16 runs.
