IRENE WINS AGAIN

* Open Championship For 14ft. Yachts By Telegraph—Press Association. Half Moon Bay (Stewart Island), January 30. The open championship race for 14ft. yachts was sailed in Half Moon Bay this morning. Three of the provincial reizesentatives, Irene, Monica, and Evelyn, and the Stewart Island boats Rona and Murihiku 11. competed. The first prize Is a silver cup donated by Mr. IP. Biggs, president of the Southland Yacht and Power-boat Association. The race was sailed in ideal weather conditions and the results were as follow : —lrene 1, Monica 2, Rona 3. The Canterbury boat was well handled throughout and won by 24 minutes, with Rona about 5 minutes behind Monica. Then came Murihiku 11. and Evelyn in that order. Mr. E. Sinclair, skipper and owner of the Canterbury boat Irene, stated definitely this morning that he has sold his boat to Mr. Biggs. Irene will be taken to Invercargill and will be a possible Sanders Cup contender next year.
