HOMING PIGEONS
Race From Three Kings The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society concluded its old bird race programme with a race from Three Kings. The pigeons were shipped from Auckland, by the Monowai, and were liberated by the master at 8 o’clock on Saturday morning in the vicinity of Three Kings. It is many years since a race had been attempted from this point, and the winner put up a meritorious performance in flying the distance in a little over 154 hours, being over six hours ahead of the next arrival. The master of the Monowai notified the liberation by radiogram from his ship. The following are the results: Murphy and Sherwood’s Gold Plane, 15 hours 28niin. 30sec., 1; C. Haines’s King Buller, 21.26.20, 2; J. Perrett’s Miladi, 21.27.3, 3; Murphy and Sherwood's Welcome, 23.28.45, 4. Messrs. Webster and Son and N. Barnett also timed in in time limit.
