West Indies Defeat M.C.C. Team SECOND TEST MATCH Action Taken Against Bodyline Bowling By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received January 29, 9.25 p.m.) Port of Spain, January 28. West Indies won the second Test against the M.C.C. by 217 runs. West Indies declared at lunch and set England to get 325 runs to win. Five were down for 71 and England faced defeat. Wyatt went at 75, Hendren at 79 and Ames and Iddon at 103. Leyland, who was twice dropped, was cleaned bowled by Constantine with the penultimate ball of the day. Half a minute more would have meant a draw. Amazing scenes followed as a cheering crowd of 100,000 rushed the field, lionising their idol, Constantine. The captains and umpire each took action against bodyline at various stages. First on Saturday G. Grant took off Constantine when the latter bowled short-pitched bumpers; secondly Wyatt to-day remonstrated with Smith’s leg theory and insisted on a change of methods; thirdly, an umpire, Mr. Arthur Richardson, spoke to Grant when Constantino bowled short bumpers, two of which went over Ames’s head. Constantine was taken off amid loud barracking. The crowd continued to shout for Constantine and Grant put him on again. Scores are: WEST INDIES. First Innings “ , )2 Second Innings. Christian!, c. New South Wales, who made 255 in their first innings, in the second innings made 178 (Fingleton 49, McCabe 53, Robinson 28 not out). FleetwoodSmith took eight wickets for 113 runs, making 15 far 226 for the match, an excellent performance on a perfect wicket; Victoria, who made 420 and 226, won by 213 runs.
