MANAGEMENT MEETING A decision to play the extra match between the third and fourth grade teams on February 9 was"reached at the meeting of the association’s management committee recently. The match was to have been played on January 19, but was postponed on account of rain. A letter was received from the Wellington association suggesting that the Hutt association nominate certain of its ranked players for the Wellington ranking ladder. As the matches are played at Miramar fortnightly it was decided to ask clubs to which the nominated players belonged to contribute toward the expenses. Out of the £lO4 levied for affiliation and team fees-to the Hutt Valley Hawn Tennis Association, £75 had been received to date. This was considered satisfactory, although the treasurer expressed the opinion that there was no reason.,why all fees should not have been paid. The state of the bank balance was favourablycommented on by members. Many clubs notified the association of their approval of the scheme for the laying down of courts at Hutt Park for use on Saturdays and holidays for match and tournament play. All were in favour of number one plan for raising of finance. One or two clubs expressed disapproval of the idea, but in the circumstances it was stated that this was to be expected.
