FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Fair .weather, with scattered showers to follow. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for 24 hours ending 4 p.m. to-day : — An anti-cyclone of slight intensity is moving from the north Tasman Sea on to the North Island, while another of the present series of westerly depressions is passing in the south. . Forecast: Moderate to fresh north-westerly to westerly winds, backing to southwesterly in many places. . Seas rather rough south of Cape Egmont and m Cook and I'oveaux Straits; elsewhere in New Zealand waters smooth to moderate. Light to moderate west to south-west winds, with smooth to moderate seas, in the eastern Tasman Sea. ~ , , Weather unsettled in western and far southern districts of the South Island, with some rain. Elsewhere still mainly fair, but later scattered showers likely in the eastern,districts of the South Island and the southern portion of the North Island. Rainfall at “The Dominion” Building for 24 hours ended midnight last night: nil. Rainfall for January. 2.29 inches. . Shade temperatures at ‘ The Dominion Building during 24 hours ended at midnight last night: Maximum, 73 degrees; minimum, 61 degrees.
