Three Years’ Probation Three years’ probation was the penalty imposed on James Lionel Allen, storeman, by Mr. E. Page, 5.. M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when lie appeared for sentence for the theft of £6/10/- from his employers, Briscoe, E. W. Mills and Co., Ltd. A condition of the probation order was that accused refund £6/10/-, the admitted shortage, at a rate to be fixed by the probation officer. Detective-Sergeant T. Y. Hall said an accountant of the company concerned had figures showing the total of the firm's alleged losses, but the police could not suggest that Allen had taken more than the amount he bad pleaded guilty to taking. Mr. F. W. Ongley, who appeared for accused, said he had no further facts to place before the court.
