Mr. and Mrs. Harold Greenwood, “Teviotdale,” North Canterbury, have returned home from a visit to Wellington. The Misses Jocelyn and Brownie Freeman, who have been visiting friends at Wellington, returned to Christchurch yesterday. Mrs. and Miss Threlkeld, Christchurch, who have been staying for a fortnight at Wellington, have returned home. Mrs. Warwick Gregory, Murphy Street, went south by last evening’s steamer express for a trip to Dunedin and Invercargill. The Right Rev. D. D. Scott and Mrs. Scott, Khandallah, who are on a motoring holiday tour, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Buchanan, Onehunga. • Countess Sternberg, Czechoslovakia, who arrived at Auckland from Samoa by the Waikawa, is staying there at the Grand Hotel. Mr. and Mrs.,A. B. Gibbons, Kliandallali, have booked their passages by the Maunganui for San Francisco on March 18, en route to England. Miss J. Hume, of the staff of the Palmerston North Girls’ High School, left Wellington last week for a trip to England. Mrs. 11. B. Gordon and Miss J. Gordon, Lower Hutt, who have been staying at Auckland, are at present at Waitomo. ,■ Miss Alix Strachan, Wanganui, is visiting 'Wellington, and is the guest of Mrs. 'G. B. Bradshaw, Karori, Wellington. Miss Eileen McCarthy, Wellington, will be. a visitor to 'Wanganui for race week, and will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Spense Lyons. - Mrs, Stansfeld Prior and Miss Rachel Fell, London, who have been touring in the north, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Fell, at St. George’s School, Wanganui. Mrs. Kirk, Wanganui, who came to Wellington for the Gold and Silver Mallet tournament, intends remaining for the Wellington croquet tournament, which commences next week. Mr. and Mrs. Jefferd, Hastings, who were the guests of Mrs. Guy 'Williams, Heretaunga, for race week, returned home on Monday. Miss Cynthia Jefferd has also returned from a visit to Blenheim. The Misses F. J. and E. C. Chapman, Sydney, who have been on a world tour, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. "Walter J. Blundell, Wesley Road. They are leaving on the excursion to Milford Sound by the Monowai on March 4, and will return to Australia by the same steamer. Mrs. A. Ba/ines-Kershaw, Jersey (Channel Islands), is a visiter to New Zealand. She has just completed a tour of the South Island, and is now about to visit pitices of interest in the North Island. She will leave Auckland by the Monterey on March 9. Mrs. Godfrey will leave Christchurch to-morrow for Wellington, to meet son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Jones, on fheir return next week from a visit, to Britain and America. Mrs. Godfrey will return to Christchurch for a short while, but later will make her home at Wellington Among 'Wellington visitors at the Chateau during the week just ended were the Right Hon. G. W. Forbes, Mr. C. A. Jeffery, Mr. and Mrs. Dyer, Mrs. and Miss Paterson, Mr. M. Cockburn, Mr. C. Jessop, Mr. and Mrs. H. Robin, the Masters Robin (2), Mr. Balnea vis, Mrs. Lauchlan, Miss Thow, Mrs. Sutherland, Master I. Suther’and, Mr. E. Robertson. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sandston, Wellington, accompanied by Mrs Sandston’s sister, Mrs. William Perry, Bolton Street, are leaving in Ma”ch on an extended tour of the East. They will leave New Zealand on March 5 to connect with the Nellore at Sydney, and will go to China and Japan, returning by way of Manila and Java.
