AIDS TO AVIATION

♦ Better Weather Forecasts DESIRE IN AUSTRALIA The desire o£ the authorities in Australia to bring about an improvement in weather forecasting was mentioned by Dr. E. Kidson, director of the Government Meteorological Office, who returned to Wellington by the Marama yesterday, after attending the congress of the New Zealand and Australian Society for the Advancement of Science, held in Melbourne. He said there had been enormous developments in aviation, and much more information was made available now than was the case formerly. Detailed reports covering the whole of Australia were issued twice daily from Sydney and Melbourne. Austra- * Hans were making great improvements in their ground organisation by the provision of. aerodromes with sufficient room for landing and taking off under all conditions. Another notable feature was the installation of radid beacons and radio air-traffic control.
