IMPORTANT BILLS
Reassembly of House of Commons FIXING ELECTION DATE By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received January 28, 11.35 p.m.) London, January 28. Six months of intensive political activity begins to-day with the reassembly of the House of Commons. Apart from the Budget, there were several highly debatable Bills, including those dealing with the Indian Constitution, Housing, Unemployment, Insurance for agricultural workers, and meat quotas in connection with rhe cattle industry. These must be considered before July, when the Government will decide whether a general election is desirable in the autumn or whether to defer the appeal to the country until 1936. The Government is anxious to secure an informal arrangement with various sections of the Opposition with a view to a fair allocation of the time available to the various debates, but if obstruction is likely the Government has decided on the most rigorous guillotine methods.
