ANNIVERSARY DAY
Australian Observance Sydney. January 28. Anniversary Day is a public holiday in all the States. The weather for the Randwick races and other sporting fixtures is fine and warm. The Stock Exchange is closed. REGATTA AT SYDNEY Good Yachting Conditions (Received January 28, 10.5 p.m.) Sydney, January 28. The main attraction of the Anniversary Day holiday was the ninety-ninth annual regatta on the harbour. A myriad of small craft—yachts, launches, speedboats and skiffs—took part in the various events. R.M.S, Ormonde acted as flagship, while also to be seen was an old pad-dle-wheel boat. Yachtsmen enjoyed the conditions, a strong north-easter being ideal for racing, but most of the rowing events were postponed owing to choppy water.
