MEETING TO BE HELD
'Notts Cricket Dispute London, January 26. Mi’. Brown, secretary of the Notts County Cricket Club, has sent a letter to Mr. Whitby, saying that owing to the imputation agaihst the honour of Dr. Gould, expressed at the meeting on January 16. the club is not prepared to adopt the suggestion made on January 19. The club offers to appoint three committeemen to meet three of the critics through the medium of Aiderman Huntsman and two independent persons he will nominate.. 'Tlie committee confirms the statements, iaade on January IG, and is not prepared to reverse any decision herein referred to. Mr. Brown’s letter was sent to Messrs. Whitby and Woolley, the latter representing the conveners of the club meeting. .Messrs. Whitby, Woolley and Adams made a statement as follows: "Our sporting gesture Ims not been accepted iii the spirit in which it was offered. However, we wilt accept the offer, if the committee agrees to our nonii-, nating one of the three independents. We suggest Sir Robert Doncaster.”
A cable dated November 20 stated that an unexpectedly early peace move occurred in the Notts cricket dispute. Messrs. Whitby and Woolley, representing the conveners of the meeting on January 16, visited the secretary, Mr. Brown, and suggested that they, with Mr. Adams, seconder of the no-confidence resolution, meet three representatives of the committee, enabling each side to nominate six candidates for a new committee. If those selected were acceptable to both parties they should officially be nomiuat,e<l at the annual meeting. Mr. Brown agreed t,o convey the suggestion to the commit tee.
