GARIBALDI CLUB
Picnic at Hutt Park The Garibaldi Club held its second annual picnic on Hutt Park on Sunday under ideal weather conditions. Punctually at 9.30 a.m. the five chartered buses, filled with excited children and happy parents and friends, set out from the Club Garibaldi, and by 10 a.m. all the vantage points had been commandeered on the picnic ground, and the serious part of the day commenced. The club president, Mr. J. Paino, and' the vice-president, Mr. H. Mereu, ably assisted by a hard working committee, catered for the requirements of the 300 members and friends. The sporting events resulted as follow: Egg and spoon race (ladies). Miss L. Boffa, 1; Miss A. Butler, 2. Boys’ race, 5 to 12: B. McCormack. 1; S. Famularo, 2. Girls’ race, sto 12: R. Lupi, 1; G. Banozzo, 2. Girls’ three-legged race, 10 to 18 years : R. Lupi and G. Zino. Treacle bun race, boys and girls, 8 to 13: Master A. Falleni, 1; Miss A. Cataldo, 2. Old men’s race, 50yds.: G. Sullivan, 1; C. Gini, 2. Tug-of-war (seven a side), club v. friends: Club (G. Famularo, N. Dellabarca, A. Mitri, S. Sarcich, G. Sarcich, F. Serci, G. Barnao). Committee men’s race: J. Paino, 1; A. Mereu, 2. Thread-the-needle race: Miss A. Meo and Mr. S. Meo. Club championship, 100yds.: S. Dellabarca, 1; A. J. Barnao, 2. Married ladies’ race: Mrs. Poli, 1; Mrs. Woodworth, 2; Mrs. J. Serni, 3. Sack race, men: S. Dellabarca, 1; J. Cooks, 2. Single ladies’ race (Donaldson handicap): Miss A. Meo, 1; F. Ferretti, 2. High jump championship: J. Barnao, 1; N. Dellabarca, 2.
