GENERAL ELECTION
Labour Party Candidate For Stratford Tlie national executive of the Labour Party has endorsed Mr. Philip Skoglund as the party’s candidate for the Stratford electorate. Mr. Skoglund is at present the town clerk of Stratford, and president of the New Zealand Institute of Town Clerks. He is also president of tlie Taranaki Brass-and Pipe Bands’ Union, the Stratford Boxing Association, and the Stratford Wrestling Association. Mr. Skoglund is a member of the Stratford Racing Club committee, and a life member of tlie Taranaki Rugby Union. Among other offices Mr. Skoglund has held are the following:—Chairman of the. Stratford School Committee, president of the Stratford Club, and the Stratford Bowling Club, and from 1905 to 190!) honorary secretary of the Taranaki Rugby Union. Mr. Skoglund was a member of the committee appointed by the Municipal Association to inquire into and report on the question of urban farm lands rating, which resulted in tlie passing of the present Act dealing with the subject. lie was also a member of the committee appointed by the association to inquire into and report, on the question of the incidence of local body taxation.
