Wellington Market Steady SATURDAY’S QUOTATIONS There was no great volume of business on the Wellington stock and share mar- - ket last week, thojigh prices generally ruled firm. Government loans were an strong demand during the early part of the week, but were quieter at the finish. Banks met good inquiry, and were mostly steady. New Zealands, which contipued to advance in the early part of. the week, eased considerably before the close. Sales were made on Monday and Tuesday at 51/-, but by Friday sellers were asking 50/8, with buyers back to OU/-. Commercials of Australia eased slightly during the week, but were firmer again at the close. Insurance shares were very firm, with g hardening tendency. Most of the other sections were steady, with only minor price variations.. Mining shares wye quiet generally, with a somewhat irregular tendency.
