Help From Carnegie Corporation At its meeting in Christchurch the Senate of the University of New Zealand was advised by Sir Bercy Nunn, director of the Institute o f Education, University of London, that funds had been provided by the Carnegie Corporation to enable the Institute to develop Its relations with students in the Dominions. Professor F. Clarke, 51. A., Oxon., who has had a wide experience in the departments of education in English and Colonial universities, has been appointed director of this new department for overseas students and will visit New Zealand til Julj’ The scheme also makes provision for two fellowships to be offered annually to New Zealand students The fellowships are of 1250 dollars, annual value, and will be tenable for one year. There is an essential condition that the fellow should bind himself to return to his own country within a reasonable period after the conclusion of his studies in London. The Senate has decided that applications shall be made through the professorial boards of the constituent colleges not later than March 1 next, and that the follows will be appointedby the special committee of tlie Senate that is already charged with the duty of selecting post-graduate scholars.
