THE FAIRY
A fairy went a-riding, A-riding through the air; "With butterflies for horses, A tiny, golden pair.
A fairy went a-riding, A-riding to the sky; But never, never got there, And I will tell you luhy.
There were no flowers a-growing, A-groicing in the air; There were no little dew-cups, Nor honey-sweet up there.
And butterflies a-flying, Flew never very high; They cannot leave the flowers, So they never reach, the sky. —From “Spring Blossom,” aged 12, Ohau.
