Mrs. Gordon Andrews, Ngaio, is visiting Matamata. Mrs. Rod. Macßae is a Wanganui visitor to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. F. Bonner, Mangaweka, 'are visiting Wellington.

Mrs. Duncan Bauchop has returned to Wellington from Christchurch. Mrs. Adam Hamilton, Wellington, Mrs. A. L. Mackay and Miss Sheila Mackay, are at the Grand Hotel, Auckland.

Mrs. E. M. Peate, Christchurch, is visiting her sister and brother-in-law at Wellington. Nurses M. Kemp and E. M. Bond have returned to Wellington from a holiday at Auckland.

Mrs. C. R. Dodd has returned to Auckland after having spent several weeks with Mrs. Doherty, Kelburn. Miss Thelma Glover, Wellington, is staying with Mrs. J. P. Jackson, Taihape. The Misses O’Neill (3), Wanganui, are in Wellington for race week, and are staying at the Hotel St. George. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Dwyer are motoring through to Auckland next week on a holiday visit. Miss Eismie Ward, Salamanca Road, who has been for a holiday to Nelson and Wanganui, has returned home. The Misses Harries and Simmons, Christchurch, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. Warnock, Wanganui.

Mrs G. Hewson, who has been staying at Stratford and Patea, has returned to Eastbourne.

Canon Percival James, accompanied by Mrs. James, returned to Wellington yesterday from the South Island. Miss Nell Tudhope has returned to Auckland after spending a holiday at Wellington, where she was the guest of Mrs. John Shaw, Hataitai. Mrs. Pat Ward, Martinborough, is visiting Wellington for the races, and is staying with Mrs. O’Donohoo, Evans Bay Road. The Misses Mignon and Yolande Macdonald, Timaru, who have been spending a holiday at Day’s Bay, Wellington, have returned home.

Miss Helen Campbell, Cashmere Hills, who has been visiting her aunt, Mrs. F. M. Jervis, Lower Hutt, returned to Christchurch this morning.

Mrs. Gwynne Ferguson, Auckland, who has been staying at Takapuna for some months, will leave at the week-end by motor for Wellington. Mrs. Leonard Tripp and Miss Henry, Wellington, are visiting Christchurch, after staying with Mrs. Bernard Tripp, Orielton.

Mrs. Ewen Troutbeck and Miss Janet Knight, Hawke’s Bay, are staying with Mrs. A. R. Sclanders, Grant Road, for race week.

Mrs. Murray Fuller is leaving for Dannevirke on a visit to relations today. Her collection of oil paintings by British artists is not due to arrive until February 11. Recent arrivals at Foster’s Hotel, Wanganui, include the following: Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Young, Wellington; Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Bond, Dr. and Mrs. G. Graham Russell, Auckland; Mr. and Mrs. Vaughan and two children, Miss Payne, England. Miss C. E. Connor (Wellington), Dominion secretary of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, who since the conference last week has been staying with Mrs. Ellen, Woodend, Christchurch, has returned to Wellington..

Mrs. H. D. Robertson, Wanganui, who stayed with Mrs. Shirtcliffe, Tinakori Road, for the Blundell-Morice wedding, has returned home, accompanied by Mrs. P. W. Robertson, Clermont Terrace. The Misses Elsie and Joyce Bull, Narrandera, New South Wales, are the guests of their uncle, Mr. W. H. Johnston, Lower . Hutt. They will spend some time in New Zealand, and will visit many of its beauty spots before returning to Australia. THE SOCIAL ROUND Young People’s Party Music and a rainbow gleam of colour drifted out from the long windows of the house and over the lawns of “Harptree,” the home of Captain and Mrs. Olphert, at Lower Hutt, when a gay party of young people celebrated Miss Betty Olphert’s twenty-flrst birthday last evening. A treasure hunt, games and dancing in the brilliant glow of tiny red, white and blue lights made the evening a memorable one. Captain and Mrs. Olphert, their daughters, Nancy and Betty, and Mr. Wybrants Olphert welcomed the guests, who were the Misses Mary Chesney, Ruth Clere, Barbara Bassett, Ruth Webb, Betty Jones, Sheila MeDiarmld, Maureen Burke, Pat Marshall, Clare Longmore, Molly Bishop, Kathleen Kempthorne, Torina Hogg, Gwenda Norman Jones; Captain Holland, Mr. Liscombe, Messrs.
