ELECTRICAL STORM
Vessel Tees Shaken Very Severely
VOYAGE FROM CHATHAMS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, January 25. What is described as a most terrifying experience was related by those on board the steamer Tees on the arrival of the vessel at Lyttelton from the Chatham Islands. The Tees sailed from Waitangi on Monday afternoon, and when just clear of the islands ran into a severe electrical storm. For 15 minutes lightning played round the ship continuously, and one tremendous electrical discharge burst quite near the ship, shaking the vessel severely. The alarm on board was general, it being the worst experience of .its kind for both officers and crew. The storm ceased as suddenly as it had beguu, and it was found that the ship had come through unscathed. This is not the first unusual experience encountered by the Tees during tlie years she has been engaged between the mainland and the Chatham Islands. One night In July of 1924 the vessel was struck cy a tidal wave which laid her on her beam ends. She righted herself, but not before her engine bad been damaged.
