COUP IN BULGARIA

King Takes Leading Part Sofia, January 23. King Boris is proving that he is no puppet King. He took a leading part in yesterday's coup. Following assurances of support from the older army officers he arrested Colonel Vetcheff and also the Chief of Police and forced the Cabinet to resign. A message published yesterday stated that the Gueorguieff Cabinet had resigned. General Zlateff, War Minister, had formed a new Cabinet. The personnel indicated victory for King Boris’s supporters and a rebuff for Colonel Vetcheff, hitherto the driving force behind the regime, who had latterly advocated restricting the king’s prerogative and vesting power exclusively in Ministers.
