Education Board Tributes
On the occasion or his retirement after 40 years’ service, Mr. A- T. ■White, head teacher of Carterton district high school, was given a farewell by members of the AVellington Education Board yesterday. Mr. White, who had served as a teacher at HalsweU, The Terrace, Shannon, and as head at Paraparaumu, was present at the meeting. In congratulating him on his successful career,- the chairman of the board, Mr. W. V. Dyer, referred to Mr. White’s high qualities and ability as a teacher. Colonel T, W. McDonald said Mr. White was held in the highest esteem by his school committee, pupils past and present, and the parents. Other members also added tributes to Mr. White’s achievements. Mr. D. Macaskill, chief inspector, said the inspectors had always been highly pleased with Mr. White’s efficient managament of i.is school and his influence and teaching ability. Jlr. White replied suitably.
