AIR APPOINTMENT
Mr. Walker’s New Position Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, January 24. Advice has been received by Air. 11. C. Walker, ot Palmerston North, that he lias been appointed aviation officer in New Zealand for the Vacuum Oil Proprietary, and that he i.s expected to take up liis uew duties on February 1. Air. Walker, who is captain of Hie Alannwatu Aero Club, was co-pilot witli Squadron Leader Al. C. Ale Gregor in tlie recent centenary air race from Alildenhall to Aleibonrne. He received liis flying instruction in Palmerston North and was one of Hie first mem tiers of tlie Manawatu Aero Club. Air Walker has built up a fine record lor himself as an aviator as well as winning various competitions throughout Hie Dominion. He i« an old boy of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School and the Palmerston North Technical School. At present he is an employee of tlie Alanawatu Oroua Electric Power Board. Air. Walker and Squadron Leader McGregor are the present holders of the light aeroplane record from England to xkustraliti.
